History: Jill's wiki page

Death: The destruction of Raccoon City was powerful, the echo of the blast sending Carlos and Jill's helicopter tumbling out of the sky. Though Jill didn't die immediately on impact, she flitted in and out of unconsciousness and died shortly after without realizing what had happened.

What are your plans for this character in-GPSL? Jill's a proactive person and will want to help out in the effort to save as many people as possible and to help them escape. Clearly that's...not likely what's going to happen, though she will hold the hope and keep the faith while she can. She's a woman who has no problem putting herself out there and going into danger if it means keeping others safe or doing what's best for the group - the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few. On a personal level, Jill has come from two very harrowing experiences and has shown signs of PTSD, some (justifiable) paranoia around Umbrella and who to trust, and I'd like to play around with her being able to work in a group again after S.T.A.R.S. was massacred and for Jill to slowly regain trust with people.

What aspects of this GPSL and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with? I really like the dark mechanic and the lack of lights, and the survival/exploration parts of the game. I love horror, it's my jam, but I really love the psychological pieces that force people to work together despite misgivings or uncertainties, and the game/plot is rife for the mystery within that exploration.

How does your character generally get along with other people? Jill is a military woman who then became part of an elite group of soldiers who were designed to work both in an anti-terrorism scope and also for urban violence. She trusted her team as professionals and as people. While betrayal broke them apart and left most of them dead, Jill is very tightly bound and trusting of those who remain (Chris Redfield, Barry Burton) and can get along passingly well with strangers if they have similar goals in mind. People in power and law enforcement/military personnel might get a bit of a side-eye considering many of them were in Umbrella's pockets, but she will absolutely put her faith and trust in others and help them if the situation calls for it. Nothing like a life or death scenario to bring people together, right?

What is your character's mental state upon entering the GPSL? Jill will not initially remember or realize her death because it happened so quickly, though she won't be in a very good place; not only has she just narrowly escaped Nemesis but the vaccine for the virus that infected thousands has been destroyed. The city she hoped to help has been wiped off the map. This all happened in the span of a few days so...she's not having a good time.

Skills/Abilities: Excellent lockpicking skills! (It's...it's a canon joke. I'm so sorry.) Jill is proficient with firearms including pistols, shotguns, heavier weapons, and grenade launchers, as well as handle a knife. Physically fit and nimble, she can dodge well in a fight and is quick on her feet. She recently was infected with the virus that plagued Raccoon City and was given a vaccine to cure her. (In later games, it's said that the T-Virus is simply 'asleep' inside of her but it doesn't manifest in any way until that game and under specific circumstances, so that's not going to be a thing in this game.) She has military training and is incredibly resilient considering how battered she gets in these game. Jill is a quick thinker, mostly calm under pressure, reliable in a pinch, and is brave when it counts despite all she's gone through.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Jill certainly isn't the strongest of the group she worked with, at least not physically. She can manage well enough in a fight but she certainly doesn't have the raw physical power that someone like Chris or Barry or Carlos might (though she can apparently lift a rail gun on her own? Wild). Jill isn't cunning the way others might be, either, and while she holds her cards close to her chest, she is a more forthright person than others in the company she keeps. Her experiences with Umbrella have also left her initially distrustful of most people, especially those involved with local law enforcement and even pieces of military sects that have worked as anti-terrorism forces due to their potential connection to Umbrella. Lastly, her experiences in the mansion have been traumatic and the game implies Jill might have PTSD as evidenced by her nightmare at the beginning of the game, where she sees herself as a zombie in the mirror and she opts to end her life rather than suffer through the abrupt change. Later in the game, she has another nightmare of needing to kill Carlos as he becomes a zombie, showing how the events that have unfolded have affected her.

Personality: Jill Valentine is a woman marked by bravery under fire, someone who stays the course no matter the danger presented to her. Calm and perservering, she's gone through hell and just keeps on going. First in the military and then a part of S.T.A.R.S., she's earned her place among the elite for her capabilities in a fight and her determination to see a job through no matter the horrors she might face. She's dogged to the point of near obsessiveness when there's trouble, as evidenced by the amount of investigating she and the others have done regarding Umbrella after the mansion incident, and the connections she has pinned up on her wall in her apartment. Make no mistake: Jill isn't someone to be crossed, and she isn't someone who takes the endangerment of her allies lightly. Curious to the point of frustrating, Jill looks for the context of a situation rather than accepting what's in front of her, and she would much sooner take her duty to the letter - to stamp out terrorism and violence - than to blindly follow what her superiors tell her to do. Serious to a fault, work is first and foremost, and she doesn't stop until the job is done.

But beneath the driven exterior, Jill also shows steadfast loyalty to the other soldiers in S.T.A.R.S. as well as a bond with them, worried for their safety and a willingness to do what she can to help and protect them, even going so far as to put herself in the thick of danger to save their lives. While she doesn't trust so easily after two allies turned on her, she certainly is willing to give people a chance if they seem to be doing the right thing, especially if their goals align (such as Mikhail Viktor and the UBCS, despite her misgivings because they worked for Umbrella). She can maintain professionalism at arms' length and put aside her misgivings for the sake of an emergency. But once someone has her back, she's willing to extend the same to them, and loyalty is an immeasurable thing to someone who knows what it means to struggle and lose those who have fought beside her. And when she feels comfortable, she's more willing to let a bit of the severity slip and will trade quips and sarcastic one-liners, opening up little by little to people who have earned it.

We're running short on some things. You know it, I know it. I don't think I need to beat around the bush in that respect and I know we've had a few people head out to take a look and see what's available. There's a lot of ground around here that seems untouched and hasn't been explored. There's good reason for that.

[ She's not stupid, after all. This group stays close together because there are safety in numbers...and no shortage of dangers to be had in the dark, stretching further and further away from their safe zones. But if they're hoping to find more supplies-- ]

What I'm saying is that I want to help out if people are considering striking out further and further from our safe pockets to go looking. I have a firearm. [ She has more than one, but no one needs to know that. ] I can handle myself pretty well when it comes to danger. What I don't know is what all is out there and I'd rather not go it alone. [ It's a hard thing to admit, considering she doesn't know anyone.

But this is desperate, and she knows she won't survive if she goes out there without backup. ]
If you're interested, shoot me a message. We can plan something.
